This year, there’s a new meaning to March Madness: Trying to watch a basketball game amid the plethora of commercials! It’s as bad as another sports adage: “I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.” There’s a simple cure, though: Grab your clubs and head to the nearest golf course.
This month’s featured RV-Golf Resort is located in central Washington State. Suntides Golf & RV Park, located in Yakima, averages more than 300 days of sunshine annually. Suntides is surrounded by residential homes, fruit orchards, the Naches River, and a host of fabulous wineries no more than a tee shot away. The 5,941-yard Suntides Golf features very flat terrain throughout the 18-hole, par 70 course. This popular public course is open year-round and draws a lot of visitors from the West Side of the Cascade Mountains, specifically the Puget Sound region of Seattle.
Located less than 10 minutes from downtown Yakima off Highway 12, this picturesque course is surrounded by brown foothills in the distance. It also features water on 12 of the 18 holes. And speaking of the 12th hole, this is a very fun par 4. This 384-yard dogleg left requires a long shot over trees and a stream. You can also take the safer route: The wide open fairway straight ahead.
Other golf amenities at Suntides include a driving range, practice area, and pro shop
After a round of golf, relax at Suntides Restaurant and Lounge, or sit out on the patio adjacent to the well-manicured putting green. Right next door, is the convenience of the RV park, which offers 60 sites, 45 of them are 18 ft. by 70 ft. pull throughs with full hook-ups. Other RV park amenities include 30 and 50 amps, Laundromats, washers/dryers, bathroom and shower facilities, dump station, all in a very quiet setting.
