Free Campground Near Olympia, WA
I am taking a break from our Utah Hwy 95 explorations this week to announce a new seminar I will be conducting at the 2015 Puyallup RV Show. “Free Camping in Washington” (that would be Washington “The State” for our East Coast readers) is the title of this seminar. In the seminar I will show attendees how to find free campsites across the state. Much of what I will be presenting has been shared in bits and pieces with you over the years on this blog. The seminar will be my attempt at packaging it all together in a concise and easy to understand format.
State and federal land agencies offer many opportunities to camp for free in developed campgrounds. Many of these campgrounds listings can be found on the internet which will be shared in the seminar and I will direct attendees on where to obtain printed resources for the ones that aren’t listed online. Of course, I will also be sharing how to find your very own scenic boondocking sites on state and federal land in Washington, too.

Those who have been following the Utah Hwy 95 series of blogs will also be interested to know that I will be presenting an expanded version of my Boondocking 101 seminar at the show as well, so you, too, can plan your own backroad adventures across the west. Show dates are April 30th – May 3rd at the Washington State Fair & Events Center in Puyallup, Washington. The “Free Camping in Washington” seminar will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The expanded Boondocking 101 seminar will be held at noon each day of the show. Be the first to guess my location correctly and win two tickets to the show.
Next week we will return to our adventures along Utah Hwy 95.

Dave Helgeson’s many roles in the RV industry started before he even had a driver’s license. His grandparents and father owned an RV dealership before the term “RV” had been coined, and Dave played a pivotal role in nearly every position of an RV dealership. He and his wife Cheri launched their own RV dealership in the Pacific Northwest. The duo also spent 29 years overseeing regional RV shows. Dave has also served as President of a local chapter of the Recreational Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA), worked on the board of advisors for the RV Technician Program of a local technical college, and served as a board member of the Manufactured Home and RV Association. Dave’s reputation earned him the title of “The foremost expert on boondocking,” bestowed by RV industry icon, the late Gary Bunzer (The RV Doctor). When he’s not out boondocking, you’ll find Dave in the spotlight at RV shows across the country, giving seminars about all things RVing. He and Cheri currently roam in their fifth travel trailer, with Dave doing all the service, repair and modifications to his own unit.
