{mosimage}The Lake Tyee Resort has 886 individual RV sites, making it one of Washington’s largest RV resorts. The lake is popular for swimming, boating, canoeing and fishing. It is stocked with rainbow trout, and being private, is open for fishing all year long with no license required.
Besides the lake, RV lot owners have access to two heated pools, two hot tubs, a playground, two tennis courts, covered gazebos, horseshoe pits and a miniature golf course.
The resort is near Mt. Baker, which offers even more recreational opportunities, such as hiking and snowmobiling. And the Baker Lake wilderness area is just a few miles from Lake Tyee.
Fewer than 65 lots remain from the original inventory and are being sold at prices starting at $14,900. There are also a number of resale properties available, many with varying improvements, such as room additions, decks, roof covers, storage sheds, fire pits and landscaping. Locations range from lakefront sites to lots secluded in the woods, and prices range from $9,900 to $119,000.
Lake Tyee opened in 1975 as one of the first ownership RV resorts in the Northwest. Lot owners elect a board of directors to oversee operations of the property owners association. Annual dues, currently $750, pay for maintenance, upkeep, a full-time manager and staff.
RV owners can save gas and money by leaving their RV at the resort and traveling there by car. The resort is open year-round, though each individual lot may not be used more than 210 days a year, under county zoning regulations.
Only about one-third of the property will be developed, the remainder is being left as a natural greenbelt.
Lake Tyee can be reached by taking Interstate 5 to exit 232, traveling east to Sedro Woolley and continuing 22 miles on State Route 20 to Baker Lake Road, and then turning left and going seven miles to Lake Tyee. For information call (360) 853-8111 or visit www.laketyee.com .
