Thor Motor Coach has added a floor plan with a bedroom slideout to its Vegas and Axis models that it calls Recreational Utility Vehicles (RUV), a category that occupies space between a large motorhome and an SUV.
Thor introduced the Vegas and Axis in the 2014 model year, and his expanded the offerings this year to include a rear slideout that houses a walk-around queen-sized bed with a Denver mattress. The new floor plan, the RUV 25.2, also includes an innovative L-shaped sofa with a removable pedestal table, providing a place to relax, eat, watch TV or sleep.
The RUV models are about 25 or 26 feet in length and are built on the Ford E-350 chassis with a 6.8L Triton V10 engine. They are about six feet longer than a large SUV, but within that space, you have a kitchen, a bathroom and a place to sleep.
“We’ve been very excited about the success of our RUVs,” said Joel Grimm, national sales manager of Thor’s Class A and Class C gas division. “They’re compact, easy to drive and contain living and storage spaces that you just don’t have in an SUV. It’s been nothing but positive reviews.”
Features in the Vegas and Axis include a three-burner gas cooktop and convection microwave oven in the galley and an LED TV and DVD player in the living area. The leatherette furniture includes swiveling captain’s chairs with a stow-away coffee table between them. Extra sleeping space is provided by a drop-down hide-away overhead bunk.
The new 25.2 floor plan carries an MSRP of $96,008. For information, visit thormotorcoach.com.
