Don’t Drink Your Calories
When most of your day is spent in the driver’s or passenger’s seat, you probably spend a lot of it staying hydrated. Don’t pack on pounds because you’re drinking sodas or juices. Instead, prepare a big pitcher of fruit infused water to keep your taste buds happy and your waistline trim. Save your extra calories for something fun!
Eat Mindfully at Restaurants
Part of the fun of traveling is trying dishes at locally owned restaurants. Since those little mom and pop diners don’t list their caloric content, make sure you ask to have your food prepared healthfully. Ask that your vegetables not be stir fried in oil and order meats that can be baked or broiled. Take it easy on salad dressings and substitute your baked potato for a healthier sweet potato.
Get Creative with Exercise
You don’t need a gym when you have the wide open road to stay healthy. If you plan your stops ahead of time, you can make it a goal to stay at campgrounds that are in close vicinity to national or state parks. You’re traveling the country to see it in all of its majestic glory, so use it as your gym. Hike through national forests, rent a kayak and float down a scenic river, or make a stop to ski resorts during ski season and take a few ski lessons for the fun of it.
Don’t let your lifestyle stop you from being healthy. Your health is of the utmost importance in RVing because you don’t want to be making pit stops in strange towns to hunt down a doctor or have to take time off of your busy travel schedule because of the sniffles. Eat healthy, get creative with your exercise, and stay safe to reap the benefits of living life on the go.
